God wants to take us to a place where we have never been.
My story
The source of my joy: Christ, his word, and his creation
I live among God’s creation along the Pend Oreille River in rural Washington, where it isn’t too quiet thanks to frequent guests and our many travels. My sanguine personality couldn’t have it any other way!
Speaking with women in groups large and small brings me great pleasure, encouraging them to face their heartaches, intimately wrestle with the Lord, and find a fresh purpose.
I relish the beauty of God’s creation as I walk my two German Shepherds. The Lord gives me his peaceful presence as the mountains point to his power and majesty. Scripture speaks to my soul.
How did I get here? When I experienced pain, God gave Himself to me.
Early in our marriage, my husband and I lost two baby girls. The first occurred at 17 weeks of pregnancy, and the second happened four hours after birth. I delved into Job and the Psalms. These books supported me through this pain and the heartache that came decades later in the form of spiritual abuse. After many years of my husband faithfully serving the Lord as a pastor, we were forced to leave the church we had started with my family. We became silent casualties.
These experiences and the scripture that kept me close with Christ through it form the basis of my book, Silent Casualty. I am eager to share it with other women who have grown closer to the Lord through suffering. It’s forthcoming.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
— Psalm 121: 1-2
